A KIDDERMINSTER cinema that is temporarily closed is set to reopen under new management and feature a brand new bar.

Lume Cinema on Green Street was closed for a "reboot and a refresh" last month and will reopen for film fans next month.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for Lume Cinema said: "We are so excited to announce that the Lume Cinema will be reopening on Tuesday, July 2 under new management.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far and we look forward to welcoming new and old faces back to our local cinema with lots of new releases and a brand new bar".

The cinema has partnered with local businesses Bewdley Brewery and Bewdley Spirits, whose drinks will be served at the new bar.

They will be serving lagers, cider, ales, wine and spirits as well as chunky cobs and bar snacks.

The bar opening hours are 5pm to 10:30pm, Tuesday to Friday, and1pm to 10:30pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Following Reel’s shock announcement in March 2020 that they were closing the Green Street site, film fan James Anderson Brown, founder of The Mockingbird Cinema in Birmingham, and Anthony Hughes and Eddy Morton, founders of Stourbridge Community Development Trust, stepped in to prevent the cinema from being lost for good.

Lume Cinema was up and running in September 2021 after being hit by several setbacks, mainly due to the nationwide lockdown.

A Crowdfunder page was set up to help make ambitious plans for the Lume Cinema a reality.

The Green Street cinema originally opened in 2006 as the Warehouse Cinema before becoming a Reel venue, converted from a former derelict carpet warehouse.
