STAFF at a Kidderminster surgery are "proud" to be nominated for a prestigious GP Practice of the Year Award.

Northumberland House Surgery, on Hume Street, has been recognised for its "amazing" team and is up for an award at the Worcestershire Health & Social Care Awards 2024.

A spokesperson for the GP surgery said: "We are very proud and grateful to have been nominated for GP practice of the year.

"We have spent a lot of time in the last 12 months working on the service we offer our patients, so it gives us great pleasure to know that this hard work is being recognised.

"Running a GP practice is all about teamwork and right now we have a fantastic mix of staff that work effectively together. Our reception staff have all been trained in care navigation and so they try and make sure that our patients are seen by the right person at the right time. We offer a wide-range of in house services such as physiotherapy, minor surgery, family planning, social prescribing, baby clinics as well as appointments with our fantastic nurses and doctors.

"We also employ a number of clinical pharmacists who work very hard to deal with any medication queries, both routine and urgent.

"Behind the scenes our admin team work tirelessly to deal with the vast amount of paperwork that comes to a large practice like ours.

"The website has been also updated and is now fully functional. Patients can join via the website and they can also contact us via an online messaging service. In our local area we have the highest level of patients using this online service.

"Our phone systems have also been updated and this seems to have had a positive impact on patient satisfaction as well.

"The list goes on, but we don't take anything for granted. We will always look for further ways in which we can improve, but it does make us happy for moments like this".
