A popular event helped raise over £1000 for a local scout group as it returned to Kidderminster last weekend.
Organisers have branded Broadwaters Fair a huge success after it generated more than £1,250 for WF11 Harkaway Scouts. This was due in part to a grant from Kidderminster Town Council.
The event has been running for more than 40 years and helped attract large numbers of families to Broadwaters Park on Saturday, June 22, for an action-packed day of entertainment.
This included a number of stalls which were helping raise funds for their own particular charities.
There was also entertainment that was provided by the Fox Morris from Cookley, Jamie Lee Dance group, Eukes on the Edge ukulele band, who played new and old favourite tunes, and the Wyre Forest Cheerleaders.
The whole afternoon was overseen by the master of ceremonies Mike Lewis.
A spokesperson for the WF11 Harkaway Scouts said: "I would like to thank the Beaver, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and parents, who helped at Broadwaters Fair yesterday.
"A big thank you to my Leader team and Trustees who gave up another day for Scouting.
"Finally, not forgetting Mike Lewis for the compering and Colin Hill for pulling the whole thing together. Fantastic weather and a great turnout. We raised £1250 for the group."
Colin Hill added that a major thanks must go to the leaders of Scouts, Cubs and Beavers for supporting the community event and helping raise funds so young people can enjoy scouting.
