The town council and the French Cadets have come together for a special celebration in France.
Deputy Mayor Nicole Harper visited the French Cadets in Brittany last weekend as the representative of Bewdley Town Council.
Pierre Moulie, the president of the association, welcomed the deputy mayor to celebrate the town's dedication to the Military Academy from 1942 to 1944.
The town council said that the French Cadets lived and trained at Ribbesford House between May 1942 and June 1944 with the history of Bewdley being deeply intertwined with the Second World War.
Visited by General Charles de Gaulle himself, Ribbesford House served as a vital sanctuary, providing the Free French with a strategic base of operations.
The Howell family, former owners of Ribbesford House, played a pivotal role in facilitating this alliance.
The Free French Cadets had previously visited Bewdley in October 2023.
