Residents have been reminded that there will be a number of road closures in place tomorrow as the beloved Bewdley Carnival returns to town.

Organisers have politely informed residents that the parade route and carnival field is completely different this year with the parade set to start on Habberley Road.

The carnival will then head into town via Kidderminster Road towards Load Street.

The parade means there will be some road closures in place on Saturday (June 29) to facilitate the celebrations.

The following roads will be closed:

  • Bewdley Town Centre including Beales Corner, Load Street, Severnside North and Severnside South. The closures will be in place from 6am until 8pm. The organisers said access to Riverside North and Bewdley Bowling Club's carnival celebrations will be allowed.
  • Habberley Road will be closed from 11.45am until the parade has passed through the area.
  • Kidderminster Road: There will be no access past Catchems End from 11.45am until after the parade has passed through the area.

In a post on Facebook, Bewdley Carnival said: "Quick reminder that the parade route and Carnival "field" is completely different this year.

"We are starting on Habberley Road and heading into town down Kidderminster Road towards Load Street. The carnival celebrations are in the centre of town."

The High Street will not be affected by the road closures.

The carnival is a hugely popular event in the town with this year’s parade consisting of floats, emergency service vehicles, local groups, such as Bewdley Community Marching Band, and individuals from local organisations.

Carnival committee chairman Martin Fisher said: "You need people to really care about it to keep it going.

"We always ask for local groups to get involved. It's a real community event".
