A Kidderminster primary school has welcomed a new art installation thanks to an NSPCC competition.
Franche Community Primary School entered a prize draw as part of the children's charity Number Day event earlier this year, which helped raise £357,000 for children across the country.
Number Day encourages schools and nurseries to take part in maths and number-related games and activities to encourage children to enjoy the subject whilst raising funds for the charity.
Franche Community Primary School was among hundreds of schools which took part in this year's event and the winning wall art was installed last week.
Richard Watkins, assistant headteacher, said: "The children and staff absolutely love the wall art. It really adds joy and colour to the stairs and corridor as well as promoting mathematics.
"We have tried to link the design to our 'Key Instant Recall Facts' for maths to make it purposeful.
"The children love being a part of Number Day and raising money for the NSPCC and this prize is a nice, unexpected reward for their efforts."
Year 3 pupil Theo said: "Every time I go down the stairs I'm looking at maths questions and it is really good for people to learn.
"Especially the times tables as it's what we are learning in Key Instant Recall Facts."
The artwork was designed and donated by Promote Your School, the NSPCC prize draw, to help celebrate the magic of numbers and maths.
Chris Harris, director of Promote Your School said: "We are all delighted at Promote Your School to have teamed up with the NSPCC for Number Day and to have presented Franche Community Primary School with their winning wall art project to help inspire pupils to develop a lifelong passion for maths.
"The donations raised by schools for the NSPCC during Number Day will do so much to help children and young people across the country and we wanted to do our bit to help bring maths and numbers to life. We will be back to support Number Day again next year in 2025."
The amount raised during this year’s Number Day has reached £357,000, which supports charity services such as Childline and the NSPCC’s Speak Out Say Safe programme.
In the last year, it has been delivered to 13,100 children in 65 schools in Worcestershire.
Stephanie Coleman, NSPCC fundraiser and Number Day lead, said "We are thrilled for all the children at Franche Community Primary School. The new wall art looks fabulous and will inspire children to have a passion for maths for years to come.
"We would like to thank everyone for making this year’s Number Day the best ever yet and for Promote Your School for making it extra special.
"Despite being a large charity, the NSPCC relies on public donations for the majority of its funding and it is crucial for the charity to be here so we can continue to fight for every child."
Next year will be Number Day’s 25th anniversary with schools and nurseries being able to sign-up now by visiting the NSPCC website and searching 'Number Day 2025.'
