A man remains in police custody after "suspicious items" were found at an address in Kidderminster.

The 51-year-old was arrested in connection with the incident on Stourport Road over the weekend when officers discovered a number of suspicious items at a property.

West Mercia Police have confirmed this morning (Monday, July 1) that enquires are still ongoing and the man remains in police custody.

In a statement yesterday (Sunday, June 30), Superintendent Mo Lansdale said: "We are working closely with partner agencies to best manage the situation, and I want to reassure the public that we have arrested a man in connection with the incident and are not actively looking for anyone else.

"We continue to work with the local council to support those that have been evacuated and do not underestimate the impact this is having on them, we are hugely grateful for their patience and the support they have shown for our officers."

A number of roads had been closed in the area whilst specialist teams carried out a search of the property meaning some residents had to be evacuated.

The roads reopened late last night with residents able to return to their homes.
