HIGH flyers at The Stourport High School and Sixth Form College were rewarded for their effort and achievement at the annual Key Stage 3 Celebration Evening.

Students from years 7, 8 and 9 received certificates for excelling in the many subjects taught, with their citations read out in front of fellow winners, families and teachers.

Student of the Year for year 7 went to Larna Richards, who has gained more than 800 achievements points so far this year and was described as having “impeccable manners, infectious enthusiasm and positivity and an unrivalled determination to succeed”.

The year 8 Student of the Year award was presented to Thomas Kelly, said to be a “remarkable” student, reliable and strong-minded, yet humble and thoughtful towards others, whose standards “set a bar that other students aim to meet”.

Lola Dyoss won year 9 Student of the Year for embodying the school values in everything she does. She is “polite, considerate, respectful, immaculately presented and works very hard to be the best student that she can be”.

Head of Year awards were presented to year 7 Charlie Coglan, year 8 Isabelle Hale and year 9 Chloe Nicholls.

The Triumph Over Adversity award went to Conor Leach, who had major concerns about starting high school but is now doing “superbly” and was described as a “phenomenal asset to the school”.

The awards were presented by chair of governors Phil Coldicott and Matthew Carpenter, director of secondary education for the Severn Academies Educational Trust, of which the school is a member.

He said: “The students should be very proud of their outstanding achievements and I also wish to thank their parents for their support and their teachers for their dedication.”
