THOUSANDS of people came together on Sunday (July 21) to celebrate the Horsefair community at the Mr Tee in the Park event.

The popular event at St George's Park in Kidderminster featured a performance from legendary singer Tony Christie, best known for his hit '(Is This the Way to) Amarillo.'

The festival also saw a host of other musical acts take to the stage, including Indigo Kid, the Kidderminster Ukelele Club, Superfuz, Infinite Madness, James Baker, Robin Nicholl and the Stourport on Severn Brass Band.

The bash, now in its fourth year, is in honour of the late Horsefair record shop owner Francis Terry Thomas, known by many as Mr Tee, who died after a battle with cancer in 2017.

Organisers Horsefair and Proud hold the event to celebrate his life and bring the Kidderminster community together.

Adrian Sewell, the treasurer of Horsefair and Proud, said: "It was amazing.

"I think we probably counted in total about four thousand people. That was a success.

"It just went off really well. It did everything we expected it to do.

"Everybody loved Tony Christie.

"He finished off with Amarillo - the whole audience joined in.

"That was the highlight but all of the acts were superb".

There was a range of other activities on the day, including face painting, circus skills, balloon modelling, a boxing workshop, hair braiding, and a wrestling show.

The previous instalment of Mr Tee in the Park, held in 2021, featured a performance from punk princess Toyah Willcox.

This year's event also celebrated ten years of Big Local DY10, a lottery-funded scheme run by people who live, work, and volunteer in the Horsefair, Greenhill and Broadwaters areas of Kidderminster.
