Thousands of people gathered in Kidderminster to enjoy an action-packed weekend of food and entertainment.

The fun-filled weekend kicked off with a free entry street food event in Weavers Wharf on Friday (July 26) with award-winning treats, bars and a DJ.

The Kidderminster Chowdown event featured local food traders including the Scran Man, Spice Club Roadshow, the Black Sheep Grill, Smash My Patty, Bare Bones Pizza and Bakin Bab.

The event was organised by Kidderminster BID in collaboration with Chowdown Events and took place from 5pm to 9pm.

The successful event was followed by the Love Kidderminster Fun Day on Saturday (July 27).

The fun day saw market stalls, street food vendors and Titan the Robot take over the town.

The event, which has been hailed a "huge success", also featured face painting, hair braiding and a Star Wars walkabout.

James Barker, Kidderminster BID leader, said: "The events both went really well. It was a huge success and great to see the population of Kidderminster come together to show their support.

"There were around 4,000 people at the fun day on Saturday. It was absolutely packed.

"On Friday, we had another good turnout which we were happy with considering it was our first locally organised food event. It was great to see the area transformed."

Kidderminster BID has also told people to "watch this space" as it prepares to host even more events over the summer.

This includes the Kidderminster Music Festival 2024 which will be held on Friday, August 30, Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.

James Barker added: "Watch this space for our upcoming music festival in Kidderminster town centre from August 30 to September 1.

"It promises to be a really exciting event so come down and support our local businesses."
