THE replica shirt from one of Kidderminster Harriers Football Club’s greatest seasons will be among the attractions at a charity fundraiser this weekend.
Two games at a family fun day arranged by Rob Stride at Stourport Swifts’ Walshes Meadow on Sunday, August 4 should feature a string of ex-Kidderminster Harriers and Wolverhampton Wanderers favourites.
They will raise money for Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Harriers legend Jon Purdie’s partner Karrie Michalczyk’s cancer treatment.
Harriers won the Conference and reached the FA Cup fifth round 30 years ago in the 1993-94 season, beating Birmingham City and Preston North End on the way before going out 1-0 to Premier League side West Ham United.
Organiser Rob said: “To celebrate this I have invited the squad and staff to my event on Sunday at Stourport Swifts.
“As the day consists of two games with a Harriers legends team and Wolves allstars, I thought it would be great to replicate the Harriers shirt from that season as close as possible and asked original kit manufacturer MG Sportswear to do this.”
MG Sportswear owner Gino Ruffinato said: “I’m delighted Rob has asked us to do this and play a part in what should be a great day.
"It’s been fantastic to replicate the shirt and has bought back some fantastic memories.”
The day is also in association with Kidderminster’s HELP charity. It will feature Rob Stride’s XI versus Kidderminster Harriers Legends at midday and then Rob’s XI against Wolverhampton Wanderers Allstars at 2pm.
The Harriers team will be managed by legend Paul ‘Ocker’ Davies and former boss Phil Mullen with physio Jimmy Conway helping.
Ex-players, such as Darren Steadman, Mark Dearlove, Matty Blair and Ryan Rowe, should be playing. In attendance will be 94 legends Purdie, Paul Grainger and more.
There will be live music and various stalls plus plenty for the kids. Gates open at 11am and the day finishes at 6pm.
Pay on the gate is available and tickets, including family deals, are available at www.ticketsource.co.uk/legends-charity-football.
