Three Slimming World groups from across Kidderminster and Stourport are set to embark on a 5k walk to raise vital funds for an "amazing" SEND nursery.

Slimming World consultant Paula Haywood and her groups are set to undertake a sponsored walk this weekend for Special Steps.

The nursery, which is run by Becky McClean and is based in Stourport, exclusively supports children with Complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

It relies on the generosity of the community to provide the equipment and maintenance of the nursery and is the only service of its kind for children in Worcestershire.

Ms Haywood, from Wolverley, said: "For us, we are really excited to do the walk as it’s a way for us to come together. We are all on a journey in our lives and ours is weight loss.

"Although the walk will help us by introducing a new way of living for a lifetime of weight loss success, this walk is also important to the children at Special Steps as the nursery enables them to have an amazing time.

"It's such an honour to support a local business that dedicates time to creating happiness for the children. That happiness is part of all our journeys."

The walk will take place on Sunday (August 18) starting at 10.30am and will involve Slimming World groups from Foley Park Methodist Church and St George's Social Club in Kidderminster as well as the Cornerstone Church in Stourport.

The group will set off from Cornerstone Church.
