A road in Stourport is set to be closed for up to two weeks to replace a gas main.

According to the Worcestershire County Council website, Wilden Lane will be closed from its junction with the B4193 Hartlebury Road to its junction with the U11319 Bigbury Lane.

The closure will be in place from Monday, August 19 to facilitate the replacement of a gas main by Cadent Gas.

There is a valid permit in place until Monday, September 2.

In the work description, Cadent Gas said: "Here at Cadent, we look after the gas pipes in your area. We make sure the pipes that bring the gas to your home keep you safe, warm and connected.

"We’re replacing the old pipes with new plastic ones which will mean that
you’ll be ready for greener gas in the future.

"We’ll have to turn off your gas supply during some of our work and might
need access to your home, but our teams on-site will be on hand to let you
know more information."

There will be a diversion in place via Wilden Lane, Hartlebury Road, Rectory Lane, Worcester Road, Wilden Lane and vice versa.

The public notice said there will be access for residents to any land or premises fronting the affected road.

The county council said delays are likely whilst the work is being completed and drivers should find an alternative route.
