STUDENTS across Wyre Forest have been celebrating their A-Level results as they secure their places at their chosen universities and other destinations.
Hardworking students at Kidderminster’s Baxter College are celebrating a bumper crop of A-level and BTEC results.
With a pass rate of more than 95 per cent, 19 out of 20 students have gained their first choice university place, one their second choice and one is currently unplaced.
The rest of the 30-strong cohort have secured apprenticeships or are taking a gap year.
Top performing students included Ben Jevons, who is going to De Montford University to read psychology, Tegan Nightingale, who is also going to De Montford University to read media and communications.
Headteacher Katie Beech said: "I and all the staff are immensely proud of our students who have worked so hard to achieve their results and we wish them all the very best for the future. I hope they remember the Baxter Way and fly high."
At Kidderminster’s Holy Trinity School and Sixth Form 80% of students attained their first choice of universities, with outstanding outcomes including 26% A*/A grades and 69% A*/C grades with 95.1% of the students achieving A*/E grades. The best performing departments were Art, Graphics and Textiles, English Literature, PE and Business.
Some of the standout students include Emily King, who achieved A* in psychology, A in Chemistry and Biology, and gained a place at the University of Sheffield studying Medicine, Alice Clare who achieved A*’s in Fine Art and Graphics, and a Distinction* in Business. She will be going on to study Graphic Design at Loughborough University, and Freddy Haynes, who achieved 3 As in Chemistry, Physics, and Maths, and B in Biology, and is heading to Imperial College London to study Chemistry.
At Stourport High School and VIth Form College there was an overall pass rate topping 95 per cent and an incredible 100 per cent of university applicants securing places at their first choice, the students are looking forward to bright futures.
Top performing subjects ranged from chemistry and statistics to BTEC Sport National Certificate, drama and the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE), which combines rugby training with academic studies.
High flyers included Ema Ivancova who has secured a place to study medicine at Birmingham University.
Noah Ellis achieved As in maths and physics and a B in biology. Rhys Jones secured Bs in biology, PE and psychology plus a DiSE pass, while Joshua Millard gained an A in chemistry, B in maths and a C in physics. Katie Webber was awarded an A in art and design, a B in English literature and a C in history.
Bewdley Sixth Form has congratulated all their students on their results.
In a statement, the school said: "Students should be proud of their achievements which are a culmination of 2 years of hard work. We are delighted that our students have secured places on their chosen courses at their preferred destination".
Wolverley High School and Sixth Form said: "We have had another successful year at Wolverley Sixth Form. Our year 13 students have achieved excellent results, and we are delighted to see them moving on to the next exciting stage of their journey.
"Those that want to go to University have secured places, a number are starting apprenticeships and others heading straight into the world of work.
Heathfield Knoll School said: "This year's achievements are not just academic, our students have shown tremendous personal growth and development. They have faced challenges head-on and emerged stronger, more confident, and ready for the future.
"We couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them".
