Police have issued advice to residents following reports of cold calls and visits about energy schemes in Wyre Forest. 

West Mercia Police said they had been informed of a couple of instances of people being cold-called either by phone or a home visit. 

The calls involved various energy schemes to do with the home including insulation. 

Officers are now urging residents to make sure they check that whoever is calling is genuine before giving any personal details. 

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "There have been a couple of instances of people being cold called within the Wyre Forest area either via phone or a home visit in regards to various energy schemes to do with the home such as insulation. 

"Should you experience one of these calls or visits remember to check that whoever is calling you is genuine before you give any personal details.

If you are unsure hang up, contact someone you know who might be able to help you and always ask for ID."
