Residents in Kidderminster were left shocked after finding their cars had been "ransacked" during the early hours.

West Mercia Police launched an appeal at the weekend after vehicles were broken into on Brook Street, Coley Close and Bewdley Road.

Items were taken from the cars with a number of vehicles on Bewdley Road having their windows smashed and one having its tyre stabbed and punctured.

One resident, who has asked to remain anonymous but shared CCTV footage, said her partner "couldn't believe it" when he realised their van had been targeted.

The 36-year-old said: "It was a big shock. My husband gets up quite early in the morning to go to work and when he got in the van, he saw that the belongings were thrown everywhere.

"At first he thought it could have been the kids, but then he realised that about £20 in change was missing and three bottles of aftershave including two bottles of Montblanc and a bottle of Invictus.

"There was also paperwork, my daughter's Calpol bottle, packets of tissue and more just thrown all over the van. It had been ransacked. It was absolutely trashed. My partner called out to me and said 'the van has been done' and so I decided to check the CCTV."

The couple checked their footage which showed someone walking up to the van and getting inside at around 1.15am on Friday, August 16.

Other footage obtained by neighbours on the same street also shows another person with them but they stayed further down the road and were on a push bike.

The people on the CCTV have been described as male.

The resident added: "It looks like they've gone on a rampage. We've spoken to neighbours and some reported break-ins from as early as 11.50pm on Thursday up until 4am on Friday.

"We just want to let people know about what has happened and for parents to be aware in case their kids were out last week and came home with things that don't belong to them.

"The aftershave stolen wasn't cheap and it is really worrying that this can happen to anyone on their own doorstep."
