NUMEROUS charities benefitted from a sports competition as industry fundraisers clubbed together.

The Kidderminster Carpet Manufacturers’ national charity golf tournament was held over two days for the 66th year again at Kidderminster Golf Club, Russell Road.

On both days turnout was higher than the previous year albeit the second day was hampered by the rain.

More than 120 golfers, all related to the carpet trade from all over the country, raised just under £19,000 which was a huge achievement appreciated by the committee.

This money was split between community charities The Odell Centre, Forest Dog Rescue, Friends of the Elderly, The Emily Jordan Foundation and The Museum of Carpet.

It also went towards Macmillan Cancer Support and The Furniture Makers’ Company.

A spokesperson said: “Our thanks must also go to our sponsors as without their continued support this event would be difficult to organise.

“Our small committee are now starting to arrange the 67th tournament to be held again in May 2025, an achievement in itself.”
