A road in Bewdley is set to be closed for more than two weeks to facilitate electrical work on a new development.

According to the Worcestershire County Council website, Dowles Road will be closed from Monday, September 30.

The closure is expected to last for 19 days and there is a valid permit in place until Friday, October 18.

The work is being carried out by MUA Electricity Limited to set up the electrical supply to the new development.

A description of the work said: "To excavate the footway/carriageway/verge to complete all electrical mains supply to the new development."

The B4194 Dowles Road will be closed from its junction with Dog Lane to its junction with Greenacres Lane.

Residents will be able to access land or premises fronting the affected highway but there will be no other form of access whilst the work is being completed.

Emergency access cannot be maintained, but there will be a diversion in place via Dowles Road, Kinlet Bank, Ludlow Road, Cleobury Road, Long Bank, Cleobury Road, Winbrook, Welch Gate, Dog Lane and vice versa.

Delays are likely whilst the work is being carried out and drivers should find an alternative route.
