A FAMILY paid a final farewell to a "proud" great-great-grandfather at a funeral earlier today (Tuesday, August 27).
Thomas Jones, aged 91, died at his home at Lower Heath Caravan Park in Stourport on August 7, surrounded by his family.
He was the father of ten children, and had more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was married to Jackaline Jones, who died in November 2022, for 66 years.
Mourners followed a horse-drawn carriage to St James' Church in Hartlebury where the funeral was held.
Mourners entered the church to the White Rose of Athens by Nana Mouskouri, a song selected by the family.
Hymns sung at the funeral included All Things Bright and Beautiful and On a Hill Far Away (The Old Rugged Cross).
Songs played included Jealous of the Angels by Donna Targgart, which was chosen by Mr Thomas' daughters, Nobody's Darling but Mine by Jimmy Davis, which was chosen by his sons, and Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Old Days) by Dave Fenley, which was chosen by his grandchildren.
The closing music was Life is a River by Derek Ryan.
The family said: "We all miss him very much but he's back with granny now who he missed and thought the world of".
The family has thanked Edward, Thomas' son, for how hard he cared for his dad since Jackaline died.
The family said: "Edward was the one Thomas trusted in the most. Thank you Edward for all you did in the end days.
"Reuben would also like to thank his sons for everything they've done organising the funeral and standing by him throughout this hard time losing his dad".
A burial service took place at St Mary's Church at Crossway Green following the funeral.
