HERE we go again. Mark Garnier and the Conservative party bashing the connection between the Labour party and the trade unions.
It’s always been known that if you join a trade union then part of your contribution goes to the Labour party.
If you don’t want to join a trade union then you don’t have to.
Yes, there are closed-shop agreements with employees and the workforce.
However, there are some people that enjoy the privileges that the trade union movement has fought for who do not pay contributions to the trade unions, like holidays and pay increases.
Shame on them.
The loss of jobs in the steel industry could be avoided.
May I point out that in the 1980s Margaret Thatcher closed the coal industry, costing thousands of jobs, which in turn closed some of the steel industry, losing even more jobs.
Can I also point out that we live in a democratic country so we have a choice.
That’s why most of the country voted Labour.
We must remember who gives money to the Conservative party.
They would like an end to the trade unions.
Instead of bashing the trade unions and the Labour party, do what you were elected to do and help clean up Stourport and help get a bypass road that is so desperately needed.
