The Hare and Hounds: Kidderminster pub under new management

The Hare and Hounds, which is located on Stourbridge Road, underwent a major revamp two years ago to transform the site into a family and dog-friendly establishment at the heart of the community.

The pub has now been taken over by new managers Abby Lawson and Chris Hartland who are determined to make it the "go-to spot" for residents.

Ms Lawson, aged 23, said: "We are both local to Kidderminster and have years of experience in the hospitality industry. I was based at Marsden's for three years and worked my way up before joining the team at Star Pubs. Chris previously worked at The Lock and Franche Village Club. 

"I have always wanted to run my own pub so when the previous manager said they were moving on, I thought it was an ideal opportunity to make that dream a reality. 

"We did look at pubs in Bristol, Aldershot and further afield, but to be able to take on a pub in a community we know so well was too good an opportunity to turn down.

"We're so excited to get started and it is really great that we have taken this on together as we both bring different skills. I am more focused on events and Chris focuses a lot on sports so we have a really great balance between us." 

The pair have had a lot of support on social media since announcing the news and have exciting plans for the pub in the coming months. 

This includes live music, bottomless brunch, quiz nights, Christmas and New Year's parties and more. 

Ms Lawson said she is looking forward to welcoming new faces to the pub and hope people will give them a try. 

She said: "We had a refurbishment a couple of years ago but we still get people coming in and saying they didn't realise it had been done. I think the pub still has a bit of an unfair reputation so I really want people in the area to come and give us a chance. 

"It is completely different to what it was a few years ago and we just need people to help spread the word. We are determined to break the previous image and we want to show people what we can do. Everyone who tries us has nothing but positive things to say. 

"We are really passionate about taking on the pub and we both love being part of the local community. We also have some fantastic offers coming up, we're very family-friendly and you can even bring your dogs."

The pub is currently offering two mains for £15.50 from Monday to Thursday and shows live sports coverage.
