A farm animal sanctuary has announced it will host free school trips after recent funding.

Goodheart Farm Animal Sanctuary, near Milson, is offering the trips to Key Stage Two pupils this autumn.

The sanctuary, on the Worcestershire/Shropshire border, says the trips will be an opportunity for children to learn about animals, the environment, and curriculum subjects in a hands-on manner.

The sanctuary said: "Our school trips are carefully designed to complement Key Stage Two learning, covering topics such as animal digestive systems, life cycles, and dentition.

"Through interactive sessions, children will have the chance to meet and learn about our sanctuary’s residents, including pigs, chickens, alpacas, goats, and more."

The sanctuary offers both indoor and outdoor learning spaces, aiming to boost students' confidence, critical thinking skills, and wellbeing.

The school trip package includes up to £100 towards transport costs, a guided tour with educational activities, and a workshop where pupils create enrichment items for the animals.

The sanctuary can accommodate up to 30 pupils per visit, with itineraries tailored to the group's needs.

Launched in 2017, the sanctuary is home to more than 300 rescued animals.

It features developments like the Pig Barn & Woodland, the Goodheart Home for Rescued Hens, and an Outdoor Education Area with organic vegetable beds, a bug hotel, and a fire pit.

With the new Education Room, pupils can get involved in workshops, presentations, and enjoy a visit to the mini gift shop, which is filled with sanctuary-themed items.
