OBJECTIONS have been raised over plans to convert a bed and breakfast into a house in multiple occupation (HMO).

A planning application seeks to change the use of Kidderminster's Beulah Villa Bed & Breakfast, on Chester Road North, into a nine-bedroom HMO.

However, residents have voiced concerns over the plans, highlighting issues over parking, traffic and noise, on Wyre Forest District Council's planning portal.

One objector claimed that the parking provision to the rear of the property is "inadequate".

Another objector said: "The bed and breakfast currently backs onto a private drive area and the use of private driveways for 186A 186 185 184 and 183. 187 has space for only a few cars and there is a concern that a 9 occupant HMO will cause others to park on our drives (has happened in past with the bed and breakfast there).

Another said: "The previous application for 5 flats was rejected with one of the reasons being not enough parking, so I can only assume this should be rejected to. With multiple pubs, a church, a, cricket club close by as well as the train station, more restaurants and pubs and a football ground very close, parking is at a premium and a 9 bedroom HMO would only bring more parking issues".

The full planning application was submitted to Wyre Forest District Council in September and is now available to view on the council's planning portal by searching the reference 24/0592/FUL.

The Shuttle previously reported that a planning application was previously lodged to change the Beulah Villa Bed & Breakfast into five residential flats in 2021 - but this was refused.

However, the case officer highlighted that the development was refused because the building was not a suitable size for the number of flats that were proposed.
