Worcestershire's history is set to become more accessible than ever as the Archive and Archaeology Service extends its opening hours.

Worcestershire County Council's service, known as Explore the Past, is extending its opening hours and launching a new Archive Drop-in service. from today (Tuesday, October 1).

The archive, located at The Hive in Worcester, is a valuable resource for family historians, Worcestershire history enthusiasts, and anyone interested in the county's past.

The service will now be open six days a week.

The new opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and Wednesday from 1.30pm to 7pm.

The Archive Searchroom will remain closed for the retrieval of original material on Mondays.

Councillor Karen May, cabinet member for communities at the council, said: "We invite everyone, whether you're researching your family tree, uncovering local stories, or simply curious about Worcestershire's rich heritage, to take advantage of these extended hours and our new services.

"Drop in, explore the archives, and let us help you uncover the unique and fascinating stories that are waiting to be told."

The new service will be available every Monday from 10am to 4pm.

Visitors can stop by the self-service area of Explore the Past on level two of The Hive for guidance from archive staff.
