THE detective constable who led a rape investigation has welcomed the eight-year jail sentence handed to Audey Loveridge.

The 47-year-old was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday (October 3).

Loveridge, of Woodman Caravan Park, Ribbesford Road, Bewdley was found guilty of a rape that took place in December 2022.

Detective Constable Simon Reilly, who led the investigation, said he hopes the sentence helps the victim move forward.

He said: “The sentencing is certainly welcome in offering closure for the victim, and I hope that it assists her in being able to move forward with her life, however, I know the level of trauma inflicted upon the victim is something that sadly lives on.”

Loveridge also received an indefinite restraining order against the victim.

West Mercia Police have added that people can report cases of rape or sexual assault via their website.
