CONCERNS have been raised over long queues building up at the McDonald's drive-thru blocking access to Weavers Wharf car park in Kidderminster.

The road layout issue has been brought back into focus after drone footage was shared of the extent of the queueing, which has backed onto St Mary's Ringway.

The Kidderminster Drone Facebook page shared the footage and said: "Why don't McDonalds have cars go around the car park instead of blocking all the road".

Resident Robin Vaughan regularly parks in the car park on Saturdays and has repeatedly aired his frustration at the issue.

He says the regular long queues for the drive-thru are preventing people from accessing the car park who are there to shop at town centre stores.

Mr Vaughan said: "It's definitely been a problem. It's going to be chaos leading up to Christmas.

"Fifty per cent of them don't realise they are blocking the entrance to the car park. Half of them are trying to get into the car park.

"It's one of those pinch points that gets bad, especially on a Saturday morning and it gets really bad at Christmas time.

"There's a whole sequence of problems. The Christmas before last they had to rearrange the car park".

LCP, who recently took ownership of Weavers Wharf Shopping Centre, said they currently have no plans to adjust the layout but will continue to monitor issues.

A spokesperson for Weavers Wharf said: “We have not implemented any layout changes to the McDonald’s Drive-thru at Weaver’s Wharf since our new ownership last July.

"As always, we continually review the effectiveness of the site’s operation and monitor any potential issues.

"Should we determine that layout adjustments would improve the experience for both McDonald’s customers and other visitors to Weaver’s Wharf, we will certainly consider them.

"However, at this time, we have no concrete changes to announce".
