A mum from Hagley is "excited" to announce the opening of a brand-new vets in Hartlebury.
Dr Helen Perryman-Smith, who now lives in Kidderminster, is set to open Pawsitive Vet Care next month at unit 142 on the Hartlebury Trading Estate.
Dr Perryman-Smith graduated from The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in 2009 and has spent the last 15 years working in small animal care including practices in Kent, Warwickshire and Worcestershire.
She set up Pawsitive Vet Care Home Visit Vet in 2018 which provided home visits to pets in the Warwickshire area.
After closing the business in January 2023 when she relocated to Kidderminster, Dr Perryman-Smith was eager to take on a new challenge and open her own clinic.
The 38-year-old said: "Opening my own vets has been something I've been working towards for quite a long time. My husband is from Kidderminster so we ended up relocating and I shut my home visit business.
"We then had a baby in the meantime and I worked at Shepherd's Vets whilst I was pregnant. I have always loved the idea of opening an independent vets so when I saw the unit in Hartlebury, I knew I'd found the perfect place.
"The area is really lovely and you get a lot of natural light coming into the clinic so it is ideal for minimising stress to the animals."
The vets is set to serve small mammals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and gerbils with Dr Perryman-Smith remaining focused on providing the best possible treatment to the animals in her care.
This includes a big focus on the interior design of the clinic by making sure nothing is too bright or white and by installing wood-effect furniture to create a natural and homely feel.
The new clinic will also create jobs in the area including two nurse roles and two receptionists.
She is also hiring a locum vet so she can have a day off to spend time with her little boy.
She added: "We prioritise treating your animals how you would expect them to be treated and to make the experience as 'pawsitive' as possible.
"Being an independent vets means we can make sure the animals are our top priority and there is no interference from a head office. We also hope it will take our work back to basics by focusing on client relationships and tailoring our care to client needs.
"We are currently in the middle of our renovation project and I'm so excited to see how it all turns out and to welcome our first customers."
