Three men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary following an incident at a shop in Kidderminster. 

West Mercia Police said they were called to a report of an ongoing burglary at Tesco Express on Stourport Road at 11.30pm yesterday (Sunday, October 13).

All the stolen items, including 200 tobacco products, have been recovered along with balaclavas, an axe and a hammer which are believed to have been used during the incident. 

The scene was taped off this morning The scene was taped off this morning (Image: Handout) Tesco Express has reopened this morning (Monday, October 14) with eyewitnesses on the street speculating that a burglary had taken place before the news was confirmed by police. 

One resident said: "There's a police car and a van parked outside and police tape across the shop. I wasn't sure what had happened but people were saying it was a burglary."

Another said they saw the shutters down on the shop this morning before it reopened but there is still a police presence at the scene.

"This week is Safer Business Action Week (SaBA), which showcases what West Mercia Police does to tackle and prevent business crime.

"SaBA Week, which runs from Monday, October 14 until Friday, October 18, aims to raise awareness of the issues affecting businesses such as shoplifting, burglary and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

"Officers across the force will be supporting local businesses, which is work carried out regularly throughout the year, and strengthening working relationships between police and the business communities."
