More than 1,200 residents have taken part in a survey to help shape the future of Stourport.

Residents, businesses and visitors were all asked to have their say in the consultation which took place from August 5 to September 27.

A cross-party working group of town councillors and local officers from Stourport Town Council, supported by officers from Wyre Forest District Council, will now collate the results which will provide a blueprint to inform future plans and decisions and enable the council to apply for appropriate grants and funding.

Councillor Jackie Griffiths, chair of the working group, said:  "People who completed the survey gave our town an average rating of 3.1 out of 5 stars. We want to take this average rating and work on ways to improve it and that is where your suggestions will help.

"We have had some comments and requests for things that are beyond our remit, however, please rest assured that we will make sure your views are heard and will be highlighting these with the appropriate authorities.

"If there are any issues you feel need reporting, please check out our reporting website for information on the most appropriate place to report to."

Councillor Tim Schmeising-Barnes said: "It’s great to see so many people having their say on the future of Stourport, these people are the future of the town and we really appreciate them getting involved.

"Rather than make people wait to find out what the people of the town have said we will publish an initial report in mid-November summarising some of the key points raised in the survey. From there we will be able to open up further consultation on what people feel is the most important for us to work on initially."

Councillor Alan Sutton added: "It’s fantastic to have received so many responses and particularly the number of comments. This, however, is the easy part, the hard part starts once the vision has been created.

"That is changing the town to match the vision. Not everyone will agree with every change. However, to create the Stourport-on-Severn of the future, then every decision that is made, should be a step forward."

It's not too late to have your say, keep an eye on Stourport Town Council’s website or Facebook for the next round of consultation.

You don’t have to have completed the first survey to take part in further consultation.
