TRIBUTES have been paid to a "true gentleman" known for his charitable work who has died following a battle with dementia.
Mike Davis was a familiar face in Stourport, having worked as a branch manager at Barclays Bank and volunteered at the Stourport Rotary Club for more than four decades.
Mr Davis died on Friday, September 27, at the age of 86.
Born in Birmingham, Mr Davis moved to Stourport in the 70s with his wife June and daughter Helen and made it his home.
He became the branch manager at Barclays Bank in the town, a job which he "loved."
Mr Davis joined the District Lions group and later in 1978 joined Stourport Rotary Club of which he was a member for more than 40 years.
He was president twice and treasurer for more than 20 years and in 2017 was presented with the Paul Harris Fellowship for his outstanding contribution to the organisation.
Following Mr Davis' retirement, he took on many charitable treasurer roles including at Stourport Day Centre, MS Society and Age UK.
He also became school governor for Areley Common First School and Stourport High School during this time.
Mr Davis was diagnosed with dementia in 2021. His daughter said he still loved to go out for tea and cake and found happiness in going to the Happy Memories Café at St Michael's Church Hall in Stourport.
His daughter Helen said: "We are proud of his dedication to his professional and charitable work that he did for several local organisations.
"He was always there for us".
Tributes have also been paid on the Stourport Past and Present Day Facebook page.
