POLICE have issued an update after a stabbing in the Horsefair in Kidderminster at the weekend.

A 28-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after an incident in Dudley Road on Saturday night (October 19).

Emergency services were called to reports of an assault at the Pizza Lounge takeaway around 6.10pm, and four men - aged 18, 34, 35 and 37 - were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

West Mercia Police has today confirmed all four have since been bailed and a fifth man has been arrested.

The force has also confirmed the man who was taken to hospital has since been discharged.

Witnesses and anyone with information about the incident, however, are urged to come forward and speak to police.

A spokesperson for the force issued an update on the case today and said: “The man who was taken to hospital has now been discharged.

“The four men arrested on Saturday have been released on bail.

“A fifth man, aged 29, was arrested yesterday on suspicion of wounding with intent.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed it treated a man who had suffered a serious injury.

A spokesperson said of the incident: "We were called at 6.11pm on Saturday October 19.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer attended and treated a man who had reportedly been stabbed and had sustained a serious injury.

"He was given treatment on scene before being conveyed to hospital for further trauma care."

Police have said they believe the disorder was an “isolated incident” with no wider threat to the community.
