A PRIMARY school headteacher has spoken out after staff were "disrespected" by drivers parking unsafely outside the school.
Police have been patrolling Bewdley Primary School after many parents raised concerns about others parking on double yellow lines, zig-zag lines and across driveways on Stourport Road.
Headteacher Amanda Bradley said that teachers at the school have tried to "educate" a small minority of parents not following the Highway Code.
She said: "Our main priority is to keep children safe.
"There are more cars than there are spaces to park. The majority of parents are very kind and considerate.
"But we do have a small minority of parents that don't always follow the highway code.
"We do go out and try and educate parents.
"We try and be as pleasant as possible but it's not always the case they're always as pleasant as possible back to us".
Officers in Wyre Forest are encouraging those who see parking they believe to be a traffic offence to submit photos or footage to them.
In a post on Facebook, Wyre Forest Police said: "Officers have been at Bewdley Primary School, Bewdley, today (Monday, October 21) after many parents/carers raised concerns about unsafe parking, and the disrespect teachers have been receiving when trying to protect children.
"Officers engaged with drivers, offering guidance on how to park safely and responsibly.
"By taking the time to educate those parking unsafely, we're working to ensure that the area around the school remains safe for everyone.
"If you see parking you feel is dangerous or a traffic offence, please submit a photograph/video footage to Operation Snap - https://orlo.uk/umUR2
"Let's all do our part - park safely, respect school staff, and help keep little ones safe."
