A Kidderminster hospice will give people the chance to remember a lost loved one once again this Christmas.

KEMP Hospice's annual Light Up a Life event sees names displayed around the Christmas Tree in Kidderminster Town Centre throughout the festive season in exchange for a donation.

Jayne Sargeant, the head of fundraising and communications, said: "Light Up a Life is an event we truly cherish each year.

"It’s an uplifting way to mark the festive season, celebrating those who may no longer be with us but remain close in our thoughts.

"Each year, we see the heartfelt dedications that are made, and truly appreciate the kind donations people give to help support KEMP Hospice as we continue to offer compassionate care and support, free of charge to those who need it across the Wyre Forest community."

The event is open to everyone, regardless of whether they have had direct experience with the hospice's services.

Ms Sargeant added: "For many, the festive season is a time of joy, and we want people involved with our Light Up a Life event to still be able to feel that joy, whilst honouring the lives of those people who may no longer be with us when we feel their loss so keenly at this time of year."

The names of those remembered will also be shared in a special feature in the final edition of the Kidderminster Shuttle before Christmas, subject to cut-off dates.

The annual service of remembrance is scheduled for Thursday, November 21 at St Mary's Church.

The service, featuring a performance by the renowned Kidderminster Male Choir, will be followed by refreshments.
