A young couple have announced "exciting" plans to open a brand-new soft play and entertainment centre in Kidderminster.
Husband and wife team Connor and Nicole Galbraith, aged 25 and 26, became passionate about starting Wacky Playland after becoming parents to their two young children.
They found that there was a shortage of family-friendly recreational facilities in the town and they wanted to provide a convenient, safe, engaging and fun environment for children aged 0 to 12.
Nicole Galbraith, who moved to Kidderminster in 2020, said: "With only one small indoor play centre currently available and no similar offerings in nearby towns like Bewdley or Stourport, we believe that Wacky Playland will fill a significant gap in the local market.
"Kidderminster is home to a growing population of young families but the current lack of options for family-friendly entertainment often leaves them seeking activities outside the town.
"We’re confident that our business will become a beloved fixture in the Kidderminster area with our plans to host themed play dates, seasonal events, and workshops that will cater to the interests of the entire community."
The couple aim to create an indoor play area divided into age-appropriate zones as well as a fully-equipped café with comfortable seating.
The pair will also offer SEN and toddler sessions to provide a quieter environment with sensory play, music therapy and more.
They will also offer party packages and cater for special events whilst ensuring the play centre is affordable and accessible for all families.
Mr and Ms Galbraith hope opening a new play centre will help boost the local economy and improve community engagement.
Ms Galbraith added: "Connor moved to Kidderminster in 2015 and I joined him in 2020. Since then, I have absolutely fallen in love with the area. The community feel and the beautiful countryside makes it an ideal place to raise our children who are three and one.
"We're very invested in the local community, especially for the younger generation and we feel there's a growing need for more places where families can spend quality time together.
"As a central venue with ample parking and a wide range of offerings, we hope Wacky Playland will become a favourite spot for local families and community groups."
The newlyweds initially submitted plans to open the centre at Britannia Business Park on Stourport Road, but they were sadly refused on Thursday (October 31).
Despite this setback, the couple are still determined to bring their vision to life and to “create something amazing“ for families in the town.
