TRADESPEOPLE across the Wyre Forest came together to support a Bewdley family when DIY SOS came to town.

The popular BBC show issued a plea for local builders and tradespeople to help out with the project, which is set to transform the lives of a local family.

Several businesses and organisations in the area helped with the effort over the last two weeks. Many have shared photos with show presenter Nick Knowles and other members of the DIY SOS team. The redeveloped property was unveiled to the family on Thursday (October 31).

Lewis Cleansing in Kidderminster praised its staff for their hard work cleaning the property.

On Friday (November 1), the firm said: "Thank you to our amazing team that participated in the DIY SOS build in Bewdley this week.

"We provided a team of 15 cleaners to assist in cleaning the property ready for the handover on Thursday.

"The team worked all day until, 1am, then returned at 5am to finish up. We are so proud of the work they’ve put in, and hope they aren’t aching too much this morning".

The Kidderminster branch of Tile Choice also helped with the project.

Trade manager Michael Gough from Tile Choice said he "loved being a part of this event."

He said: "Projects like this make you think how lucky we are in life. And if you need help always ask there will always be someone there when you need them.

"Looking forward to when this episode is on TV and you see how lovely the house looks, the Tiles also look really good".

The Bewdley Rotary Club also assisted by helping with the refreshments.

They said: "Some of our corporate members have also been working on the DIY SOS Bewdley project.

"AJF Electrical Limited have been among the electricians, Cook's Garden Centre have donated plants, pots and compost and The Wash House have donated two 36" TVs.

"Well done to all our members who have contributed to this community project".
