Residents have had their say on plans to knock down a historic building in Stourport after the attached wall was deemed "unsafe".
Raven Street has been closed since early July for safety reasons following concerns over an unstable wall connected to the former bakery.
It was unclear at the time how long the closure would be in place with a permit valid until the end of the year according to the Worcestershire County Council website.
Wyre Forest District Council confirmed a couple of weeks ago that the building on Raven Street will be taken down after it was found to be dangerous.
Residents have now taken to social media to share their reactions to the plans with many saying it would be a "shame" to see the building demolished.
One social media user Richard Gregory said: "We should be saving our history not knocking it down."
Another resident Sharon Cartwright said: "Well that's a surprise."
Paula Trimnell Rayner added: "This wall has history. It shouldn’t be knocked down at all."
The council has contractors in place and said it is hoping to start the work in the next month.
The building is not believed to be listed.
A spokesperson for Wyre Forest District Council said: "The wall and building on Raven Street have been deemed unsafe. The building will be taken down as it is attached to the wall.
"We have contractors in place to carry out the work which we hope to commence in the next month."
In a post via "We love Stourport-on-Severn" past and present day on Facebook, Councillor Alan Sutton also confirmed plans for the demolition of the building.
He said: "Building control has confirmed that, for the old bakery on Raven Street where the wall has been deemed dangerous, the whole building has been condemned and the whole building is to be demolished."
