MORRISONS donated more than £600 in drinks and food for the hardworking tradespeople taking part in the DIY SOS project in Bewdley.

The popular BBC show, which is presented by Nick Knowles, filmed an episode in the town last month.

The show put out a call to local tradespeople to help renovate a home to transform the lives of a local family.

As part of the effort, supermarket Morrisons donated more than£600 worth of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, drinks cans, water, crisps, breakfast bars, pastries, cookies, chocolate bars, fresh fruit and biscuits.

Morrisons also provided 70 hours of manpower to serve in the refreshment tent, working alongside Bewdley Rotary Club.

Bex Pountney, Morrisons’ community champion in Kidderminster, said it was an "emotional" experience.

She said: "What a week. Morrisons has provided 300+ tradespeople with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, sugar, biscuits, crisps, cakes, chocolate bars, cans of pop, water, eggs etc every day for 8 days. By the end of the week they were broken, everyone worked so hard, but they still had smiles on their faces.

"Massive thank yous to Helen Nicholls, Alexandra Mj Joan Pearson, luci, Lauren, Craig and Denise Swift for helping to man the tent, and for the donations from other stores, it simply couldn't have happened without us all pulling together.

"Also it was an absolute privilege to work alongside Bewdley Rotary, Graham and Judith you are truly beautiful people with beautiful hearts, they manned the tent when we couldn't and made and endless supply of pastries and cakes as well as hosting the tea tent on their driveway.

"And not forgetting Jackie and her now famous savoury muffins.

"It was incredible seeing what can be achieved when we all work together".
