New accessible swings have officially been installed in two parks in the district.

Wyre Forest District Council has added two special educational needs swing seats in Stourport Riverside and a memory swing at Brinton Park in Kidderminster.

The memory swing enables toddlers and children to spend face-to-face quality time with one another or their parents and caregivers.

It is designed to allow eye-to-eye contact while enjoying a gentle swinging motion and movement can be easily controlled by the older user.

Nine-year-old Felix had a great time testing them out.

His mum Hannah Clarke said: "It’s great to see Wyre Forest District Council committing to add accessible play equipment into its parks.

"It makes such a difference to children when they can join in with their friends and not be excluded. "

Councillor Ben Brookes, Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for operational services, said: "To be able to give all children the opportunity to join in at play areas is so valuable.

"Last year we introduced an accessible roundabout in Spennells Park and we hope these new swings are going to be just as popular.

"This is just the start though. The Council is investing more in accessible play equipment. We set aside £50,000 in our budget and details of what this is being spent on will be announced soon."
