WYRE Forest residents will come together at events across the district to honour the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.

Road closures will be in place in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley as parades are held in the towns on Sunday (November 10).

Motorists are being reminded that roads in Kidderminster town centre will be closed on a rolling basis during the Remembrance Parade, which takes place on Sunday, November 10.

The parade starts from the New Road Car Park at 10:15am, making its way through the town centre and up to St Mary and All Saints Church on St Mary's Ringway by 10.50am.

There will be a service outside the memorial. The parade leaves St Mary's at approximately 11.50am for the return journey through the town centre, concluding at the New Road car park at around 12.20pm.

Permission for temporary road closures has been granted by Wyre Forest District Council between 8.00am and 1.00pm affecting New Road, Bridge Street, Oxford Street, Vicar Street, Bull Ring, Lower Mill Street and St Mary's Ringway.

In Stourport, the parade will leave from the Royal British Legion at 10.35am and will proceed via Severn Road, Mitton Street and Vale Road to the War Memorials for the Service of Remembrance. Wreaths will also be laid, followed by The Act of Remembrance, the Last Post,  and the two minutes of silence.

After the service, the parade will re-assemble and march to the Royal British Legion Headquarters via Lion Hill and Lichfield Street, where the parade will be dismissed.

In Bewdley, local groups and organisations are invited to join the parade which will gather at Bridge House, Riverside North at 10.30am. They will then proceed to the War Memorial at St Anne’s Church following the parade marshall.

There will be a short outdoor service, followed by prayers. At 11am there a two-minute silence will be held and the bugler will mark the poignant ceremony with the Last Post. This silence will be broken by a reading from the Kohima Epitaph with dignitaries and organisations invited to lay wreaths. A Church Service in St. Anne’s will follow.

There will be a road closure in place at Beale’s Corner to the top of Load Street from 10.30am until 1pm. Access to Load Street car park will not be permitted during the road closure.
