A brand-new cake and pottery studio is set to open its doors in Kidderminster.

Mum-of-one Alix Tapper said she wants to "bring something new to the town" by opening Create and Cake at 11 Comberton Place.

The pottery studio, which is near the train station, will give residents the chance to be creative whilst enjoying a tasty treat.

There will also be regular events, afternoon tea, parties and more.

The 31-year-old said: "Being a single mum, I loved the idea of being able to run my own business for my little one and give myself that independence. I love being ambitious and I give absolutely everything to him, so I wanted to show him that he can achieve anything.

"I'd been to a pottery studio in Stafford and really enjoyed it, so I started looking into it and realised that they are becoming really popular.

"I decided to bring a similar studio to Kidderminster to create something new for the town and a great way for people to relax and have fun."

Ms Tapper said the venue is perfect for retirement get togethers, hen parties, baby showers and catch-ups as well as offering party packages for kids.

The studio has already had a lot of positive engagement from the community with bookings now being taken for November 17 onwards although walk-ins are also accepted.

Ms Tapper said: "We are hoping to host festive afternoon teas and even a meet Santa event for the children. We're also hosting a monthly story time event where we will read a book and paint a bisque to match the story. It's the perfect opportunity to get creative and test your artistic flare.

"As a mum, I want people to know that although it is a pottery studio, we are really family-friendly. Everyone is welcome and it's just a bit of fun.

"We've had so many positive reactions so far, especially since our sign went up by Hashtag Signs, and I just want to thank everyone who has already shown an interest in the studio. We are happy to take suggestions for events and can't wait to welcome our first customers through the doors."
