Hundreds of people gathered for the start of a three-day beer festival in Kidderminster this week.

The annual Kidderminster Beer and Cider Festival officially opened on Thursday (November 7) and is set to finish on Saturday (November 9).

Officially pronounced open by the Kidderminster Town Crier, several hundred beer and cider aficionados descended on day one of the three day festival at Kidderminster Harriers Social and Supporters Club.

Festival coordinator Doug Hine said he is very happy with how this year's event is shaping up and complimented the beers, ciders, spirits and zero-alcohol drinks on offer.

He said: "The 45 beers, 21 ciders, a spirits bar, wines and zero-alcohol offerings are going down a treat. We look forward to some popular live music this evening (Friday, November 8).

"Tomorrow, Kidderminster Harriers are playing Farsley Celtic FC, so we'd like to offer both sets of football fans the opportunity to pop in and enjoy some of our festival offerings before the game starts.

"Other people also intending to come tomorrow (Saturday, November 9) should please be aware that there will be the usual football traffic and parking congestion at Aggborough so consider getting public transport to Station Hill and walking up or get a lift or a taxi."

The opening hours on Thursday ran from 2pm to 10pm with a preview from noon for CAMRA members.

Today (Friday, November 8) the festival will be open until 11pm, and on Saturday (November 9), the festival will run from noon until 9pm or until the beer runs out.
