NEW footage shows the moment two “depraved, sickening and wicked” women were arrested for promoting monkey torture.
Adriana Orme, of The Beeches, near Upton, and Holly LeGresley, of Baldwin Road, Kidderminster, were jailed on Wednesday (November 13) in what has been called the most disturbing case police officers have worked on.
The two, ages 55 and 37, had left Judge James Burbidge KC “almost in disbelief” as their case at Worcester Crown Court told the role they played in helping people watch and pay for videos of monkeys being abused, tortured and killed.
Footage released by West Mercia Police showed officers inside the mother-of-three Orme's home while police carried out the arrest.
When the video starts, Orme could be seen smiling.
Other footage released by West Mercia Police shows LeGresley being arrested in her bedroom - in the footage, she makes deep sighs.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Arrowsmith, who led the investigation for West Mercia Police, said: “This is without doubt one of the most disturbing cases that my team and I have ever worked on.
“The hatred and deviant fascination the defendants have shown in relation to the cruelty and abuse towards monkeys is incomprehensible.
" The suffering the animals endured is sickening and sadistic; it’s impossible to comprehend how anyone could find it enjoyable to watch and be part of."
Dutch-born Orme and LeGresley had joined online chat groups which encouraged the torture of monkeys by offenders based in Indonesia.
Their involvement started during the Covid-19 pandemic and escalated until their arrest in September and October 2022.
The two had entered The Monkey Hate community and developed links to one of the main organisers known as 'The Torture King'.
LeGresley took on the role of ‘admin’ in a group on Telegram and welcomed new members by helping them access videos and photographs.
She would direct people on how to make payment for the production of the video, with her and Orme contributing financially.
When sentencing the two, Judge Burbidge KC said: “Quite what led you two women of good character and, I am satisfied, some intelligence, to engage in such a forum is beyond comprehension by any right-thinking member of society.”
