A LOST German Shepherd spent more than a day locked in the boot of a stolen car before being found.

Tink the dog has now been reunited with her sister Ella and has been enjoying the recent snow.

Urgent appeals to find Tink circulated widely on social media after a Land Rover Freelander was stolen in Wythall with her and four Jack Russell Terriers inside.

On Monday night (November 18), her owner Tina Kazmi was contacted by a member of the public who had seen the appeal on the Spotted Redditch Facebook group.

The car, which was stolen on Sunday afternoon), had been seen on a road in Redditch, near Woodrow. The Land Rover had been parked and left in Redditch, with Tink still in the car.

Tina said: "We couldn't get to her quick enough. It was quite late on Monday evening.

"She was in Redditch. A member of the public had seen on Spotted Redditch the story and a post had gone out and they saw the car parked on the road where they lived. They found my number.

"The first thing we did was check the boot and to see if she was still in there and she was.

"She was quite stressed obviously. She had been locked in there for over 24 hours. She was thirsty, she needed something to eat.

"She was safe and she wasn't harmed which was the most important thing".

The Land Rover Freelander was stolen when her husband Andy Moakes, who is a farmer, was delivering hay to an address on Houndsfield Lane in Wythall on Sunday.

He was picking up some step ladders when he returned to find the Land Rover Freelander and the trailer had been taken.

Four of their pet Jack Russell Terrier dogs were also in the car but were later found dumped at Weatheroak Hill and Aspley Heath Lane.

Tina added: "I just wanted to say how grateful we are for the amazing support that we have had.

"It's one of those moments where Facebook can be wonderful".
