A plan to build six new townhouses along the canal in Kidderminster has been approved.
The application, which was submitted to Wyre Forest District Council over the summer, will see six new properties built on Park Lane.
According to the proposals, the townhouses will be located across the canal from Tesco and have two bedrooms.
The site is currently derelict with the former buildings largely being demolished down to cellar floor level.
The plans will also see the creation of five additional parking spaces at the site and cycle storage to benefit those who move into the properties.
The heritage statement added: "Given that the setting in this section of Park Lane is predominantly one of recent developments, and the site overlooks a supermarket carpark, it is not considered likely that the development will have any additional detrimental impact on the vestigial historic landscape."
A plan to build seven properties at the site had previously been refused earlier this year with the proposals being met with mixed reactions.
Whilst some support the site being developed as it is an "eyesore", others expressed concerns over being overlooked and inadequate parking.
One supporter said: "It would be wonderful to see this plot finally developed and providing much-needed housing.
"Park Lane in particular needs serious development and this development will go a long way to improving the aesthetic of the street."
One objector said: "The proposed houses appear to be substantially taller than our existing homes, leading to potential overshadowing and loss of privacy."
They added: "Several residents have already relocated due to persistent vandalism and parking challenges."
The application was officially approved by Wyre Forest District Council on Wednesday (November 20).
