Heavy rain and flooding caused travel chaos across North Worcestershire this weekend as Storm Bert hit the county.

Photos have captured the extent of the flood water which made some roads impassable and led to cars being stranded.

Flood alerts and weather warnings were in place as emergency services urged people to take care on the roads and not to drive through flood water.

Areas of Wyre Forest, Bromsgrove and Redditch were affected including the A449 Wolverhampton Road near The Island Pool in Cookley, the A451 Kidderminster Road at Iverley, the A456 Bewdley Bypass, the A456 Hagley Causeway, Alcester Road, Kendal End Road, Wilden Lane, the A448 Kidderminster Road at Chaddesley Corbett and more.

Other roads were also blocked by fallen trees including Tutnall Lane, Finstall Road between Heydon Road and Alcester Road, Blackwell Road and Astwood Lane between Feckenham and Astwood Bank.

The flood barriers were deployed by the Environment Agency in Bewdley as a precaution due to the risk of heavy rain over the next few days.

A spokesperson for the Environment Agency Midlands said: "River levels in the Midlands are expected to stay high over the next few days.

"Our field team has been out today deploying our demountable flood barrier in Bewdley."

Traffic Bromsgrove also reminded people to "take care" on the roads with Worcestershire County Council urging people to report any fallen trees and obstructions.
