British progressive rock band Amplifier will kick off their UK tour in Stourport.

The band will perform at Stourport Civic on Thursday, March 6, as part of their UK tour in support of their eighth studio album, Gargantuan.

The album, which will be released on Friday, April 4, marks a new chapter for the band, now a duo made up of Sel Balamir and Matt Brobin.

The album was born from late-night jams in a secluded Sussex smithy.

The band have said that the album sees them return to their roots, embracing a raw, electric energy while pushing sonic boundaries.

Balamir said: "In good conscience, I could hardly go there and fire up a Marshall stack at 2am.

"Matt plays louder and harder than anyone else I know, so we irresistibly ended up going down the route of pure electricity."

The band has said that the album "features intricate soundscapes, thunderous riffs, and poignant reflections".

It includes tracks such as 'Gateway', 'King Kong', and 'Long Road'.

Balamir said: "If you look at the back catalogue, it's very varied.

"The band has never been tied into one thing... We've never fitted into any of those moments.

"But that's good – don't be wiped out by the asteroid."

The album was recorded using a unique headphone-based approach, capturing a raw energy and spontaneity.

The UK tour in support of Gargantuan will be their first as a two-piece.
