A MAN has been taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof.
The incident happened at around 9.40am this morning (Tuesday November 26) on the A449 Claines Island.
Police, firefighters and medics attended the incident which closed the A449 from the Kidderminster direction, with one man taken to the Worcester Royal.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 9:40am this morning (26 November) with a report of a collision on the A449, Claines Island.
"Officers arrived to find two cars involved, one of which had flipped onto the roof.
"One man was taken to the Worcester Royal with injuries."
A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue said crews from Malvern and Worcester attended.
They said: "One vehicle had overturned on the side of the carriageway with one male casualty medically trapped.
"The casualty was extricated from the vehicle and handed over to the care of the ambulance service.
"The A449 was closed from the Kidderminster direction.
"Police also attended.
"The incident was marked as pending closure at 11.04am."
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "A passing paramedic officer and ambulance came across an RTC at the junction of Ombersley Road and the A449 in Worcester at around 9.40am.
"A car was found to have come off the road and collided with a tree and the driver, a man, had suffered serious injuries.
"He was treated by medics and conveyed to Worcester Royal Hospital."
