Staff have been left devastated after their shop was targeted by vandals for the second time in less than two weeks.

The team at Geek Retreat on Worcester Street said it was "heartbreaking" to find the chipboard, which was covering damage to the front door, completely ripped apart and destroyed.

The store was targeted yesterday morning (Wednesday, November 27) with staff saying it was devastating to see the inclusive community space treated with such disregard.

The team at Geek Retreat said: "We arrived to find our store had been vandalised once again. It’s heartbreaking to see a place built for community, inclusivity, and enjoyment treated this way.

"Your support means the world to us, and we encourage you to continue popping in for games and introducing friends to our lovely community.

"We’ve already taken further steps to ensure our space remains safe and welcoming. Tonight, we’ll be fixing the door so that we're ready to welcome you all back tomorrow."

This is the second time that the store has been targeted in less than two weeks with the door window previously being smashed on Monday (November 18).

West Mercia Police said they were investigating the incident.

Geek Retreat, which is a retailer, gaming café and events hub, has been encouraging people to help support the shop by dropping by the store, spreading the word for what they stand for and have to offer, introducing a friend or playing a game.

The staff have also thanked the community for the positive reaction and messages of support following the damage to the shop and said it "means the world".

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call at around 9.45am yesterday morning (Wednesday, November 27) with a report of burglary at a business premises on Worcester Street in Kidderminster.

"Enquiries are now ongoing."
