A hairdresser with over 10 years of experience has officially opened her first salon in Stourport.
Laura Sullivan opened the doors to Salon Six last month after spending two years perfecting her vision for the site.
After struggling academically at school, the 29-year-old developed a passion for styling hair and went from doing hair for her friends to building up an impressive client base in her professional career.
Ms Sullivan, who is from Stourport, said: "I failed sixth form and ended up flying over to Spain. I flew home on my own and my mum said I needed to either get a job or go back to college.
"My friend's dad was getting married at the time and I ended up styling all the bridesmaid's hair.
"It was then that I started thinking about doing a career I really enjoy."
Ms Sullivan got an apprenticeship but found it hard to commute the long distance to the salon so she ended up securing one closer to home in Bewdley.
She has spent the last 10 years working in salons across the area, as well as a stint as a mobile hairdresser, before opening the new salon on Hartlebury Road.
Ms Sullivan hopes the salon will provide a relaxing atmosphere for her clients and has been "amazed" by the response she's had so far.
She said: "The salon has been two years in the making so it's been a big work in progress but I wanted to make sure I got it right.
"As well as being a sustainable salon in terms of the products we use, I wanted to create a relaxing and cosy feel where people can come to unwind. Everyone deserves to feel good and hairdressing should be treated as a luxury.
"My gorgeous client designed the salon and our signage was made by Hashtag Signs. Everything looks amazing and the response we've had has been better than I could've ever imagined."
The salon is currently fully booked until January but Ms Sullivan said people are welcome to get in touch about upcoming appointment slots.
She added: "It's all been pretty mint so far and I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. It's so lovely to see existing and new clients and I can't wait to see what the salon becomes."
