There will be changes to rubbish and recycling collections over Christmas with some households having collections two days earlier than normal. 

Wyre Forest District Council has revealed that residents who would normally have their rubbish collected on Wednesday, December 25, will have an earlier collection day on Monday, December 23. 

Collections due to take place on Thursday, December 26, will now take place on Saturday, December 28. 

The recycling collections which would normally be on Wednesday, January 1, will now be on Monday, December 30. 

The council has confirmed that these are the only planned changes to bin collections over the festive period. 

The hub, the council's customer service centre, will also be closed from 5pm on Monday, December 23. 

Their phone lines will be open between 10am and 4pm on Friday, December 27 and Monday, December 30. 

Phone lines for enquiries about rubbish and recycling collections are open between 9am and 3pm on Tuesday, December 24 and Friday, December 27, Saturday, December 28, Monday, December 30 and Tuesday, December 31. 

The hub fully reopens at 9am on Thursday, January 2.

Accessing the council’s services online is the quickest, easiest and most convenient way to find out about council services by visiting www.wyreforest.gov.uk or by accessing the My Wyre Forest mobile app and web portal which are available 24/7.

Free festive parking is available from Monday to Friday between 3pm to 6pm in all council-owned car parks in the district.

This offer runs from Monday, December 2 until Tuesday, December 24.

Tickets are required and other car park restrictions apply.

Bewdley Museum closes its doors at 4.30pm on Monday, December 23 with the last admission at 4pm.

The shop and Shambles walkway will reopen on Saturday, February 1. The museum will fully reopen on Saturday, March 1. The café closes on Sunday, December 22 and reopens on Monday, February 17. 

Worcestershire Regulatory Services’ phone lines will be closed on December 25, 26 and 27 and January 1, 2025. The phoneline for reporting stray dogs will be open on Friday, December 27.

Household recycling centres in the district, managed by Worcestershire County Council, will be closed for three days including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

If residents need to visit the tip, they are being reminded to avoid these three days and not to fly tip by leaving items outside the gates.
